T'was 3 weeks before Christmas,

T'was 3 weeks before Christmas, ๐ŸŽ…
And all through the town,
People wore masks,
That covered their frown. ๐Ÿ™
The frown had begun ๐Ÿ™
Way back in the Spring, ๐ŸŒผ
When a global pandemic ๐ŸŒŽ
Changed everything.
They called it corona,
But unlike the beer, ๐Ÿบ
It didn’t bring good times, ๐Ÿ‘
It didn’t bring cheer. ๐Ÿ˜Š
Airplanes were grounded, ✈
Travel was banned.
Borders were closed
Across air, sea and land. ๐Ÿšข
As the world entered ๐ŸŒŽ lockdown
To flatten the curve,
The economy halted, ๐Ÿ’ฐ
And folks lost their nerve. ๐Ÿ˜“
From March to July ๐ŸŠ
We rode the first wave,
People stayed home, ๐Ÿก
They tried to behave. ๐Ÿ‘
When summer emerged ๐ŸŒž
The lock down was lifted.
But away from caution, ⚠
Many folks drifted.
Now it’s December ❉
And cases are spiking,
Wave two has arrived,
Much to our disliking. ๐Ÿ‘Ž
It’s true that this year
Has had sadness a plenty, ๐Ÿ˜ฅ
We’ll never forget
The year 2020.
And just ‘round the corner -
The holiday season, ๐ŸŽ„
But why be merry? ๐Ÿ˜Š
Is there even one reason?
To decorate the house ๐Ÿ
And put up the tree, ๐ŸŽ„
Who will see it, ๐Ÿ‘€
No one but me.
But outside my window
The snow gently falls, ❉
And I think to myself,
Let’s deck the halls!
So, I gather the ribbon, ๐ŸŽ€
The garland and bows,
As I play those old carols,
My happiness grows. ๐Ÿ˜Š
Christmas is not cancelled ๐ŸŽ…
And neither is hope.
If we lean on each other,
I know we can cope ❤๐Ÿ’š
Keep it going!
